Charlemont Derailment- Point of Failure

MP407 in Charlemont, MA. Site of an 18 car derailment on 2/27/17.

What looks like a point of failure can be clearly seen with the rail shredded into pieces. It appears that the track to the right (east) has remained intact while the track to the left (west) will be broken or displaced under the 18 cars that derailed.
