The Chessie System was created from the Chesapeake & Ohio Railway (C&O), the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O), the Western Maryland Railway (WM), and several smaller carriers. Chessie's chief source of revenue was coal mined in West Virginia, and the transport of auto parts and finished motor vehicles. And who can forget their "Chess-C" logo, which incorporated the outline of the C&O's famous "Chessie" the kitten logo.
