Amtrak 12, the "Fast Mail", arrives in Old Saybrook at 09:36. Shortly after this, train 12 would be rerouted to the Springfield line from New Haven, terminating at Springfield. Eventually, as Amtrak ceased carrying mail, the train was eliminated.
