Heading for the Shore

About to pass over the mainline in downtown Bangor, ME, Pan Am 505 was pulling 315 and NMBK out of Calais Junction and up to the bridge spanning the nearby Penobscot River. If everything that has been planned comes together, there will no longer be trains through here as of 2015. With the closing of Verso in Bucksport by December and the rerouting of NBSR traffic via Northern Maine Junction and Brownville instead of Mattawamkeag, the entire East end will likely go silent in a matter of several weeks. That's about 80 miles, give or take!
