A four-car set of former New Haven heavyweight MUs built in the 1920s pulls into New Haven station to complete a local run from Grand Central Terminal. In 1972 it was rare to see these old cars running east of Stamford, and they would be retired the next year as new M-2s began to arrive.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, June, 1972.
