This photo shows the former Sakonnet River Bridge in the process of being dismantled. The photo also shows the end of the abandoned Newport Secondary Track. Earlier photos on this archive will show the railroad bridge which used to connect Aquidneck Island with the mainland at Tiverton, RI. The railroad bridge was put out of working condition in the early 1980s. With the current construction costs I doubt that it will ever be replaced. The new highway bridge was opened in 2014.
