Closer View of AMTK 108 at Ashland, MAThis closer view of AMTK 108 (P42DC) at Ashland, MA shows both the standard lettering and the 50th Anniversary lettering on the side of this prototype example of Amtrak's Phase 6 paint on a P42. I am assuming the Amtrak name and 'rails over the hill' logo will remain as more P42's eventually receive this scheme, though I suspect the 50th anniversary lettering will probably prove unique to the 108.
<BR>I do not know how good Amtrak's grade-crossing safety record is on P42-powered lines, but I expect it will improve as more of the P42's appear with this red face. That certainly will attract more attention approaching crossing than Phase 5's blue and silver. Even needing a wash (notice condition of windshields) it certainly stands out. And Steven Demboske was right Saturday evening; the engineer was friendly.
