Closer in the lineupThe view in South Boston was so spectacular. I had to move a little closer to understand what the panorama was showing. I got close enough to see DL 109 No. 0744 was on the far left - built in 1942 and rated at 2,000 hp. On the far right was the 0403, an FA-1 rated at 1,500 hp, and RS-3 531 beside it. That's the 0710 on the other side of the 531. The RS-3's 1,600 hp engine was only four years old at the time. The Fairbanks-Morse H16-44s began to appear in 1950, but none were here this day.
