Belfast Moosehead Lake Local Winter 1980/81

GE 70 ton engine Number 51 is in the eighth notch with this train of grain, feed and lumber on this cold winter day during the winter of 80/81. Times were good back then when the feed mills were going full steam ahead and the chicken industry was number 1 in Waldo County Maine. Trains would have to make 2 trips and or double the "hill" to get the loads to the mill. Now the mills are closed and the poultry industry is gone leaving behind empty buildings littering the mainline tracks that are snow covered.
