Visitor Comments about this Photo:This is the EXACT consist of the first season on the WNC, although the Porter is 100% prettier after a trip to the WMC shops. Built in 1930, it was used to load cars of railroad ties into the retorts at the Koppers Tie plant 2 miles north of Nashua, NH. By 1952 it was out of service, sitting within view of the B&M main line. It was then a full length saddletank with heavy castings fore-and aft for traction and as buffers for the creosote-covered tie cars. The push-pole and unsprung 4 wheel forestry car are unmodified from the original 1958 consist. This was my little engine during July and August of 1958.
