The Massachusetts Coastal Railroad's Energy Train On Thursday February 6th, 2014

Within the fading light of this very cold February evening, the Massachusetts Coastal Railroad's Energy Train travels north on the Cape Main Line from the Barnstable - Yarmouth Regional Transfer Station within South Yarmouth, Massachusetts. The MC 2010's three refuse loads were destined for the SEMASS Waste - Energy incinerator at Rochester, Massachusetts. Although Cape Cod's population is a lot less during the winter time, these "Energy Trains" are appearing to become much shorter as each year passes by. For instance, I remember that these "Energy Trains" use to be at least seven loads long or so. Perhaps the towns that frequently service the Barnstable - Yarmouth Transfer Station (i.e., Barnstable, Dennis, and Yarmouth) are now beginning to resort even more so to semi trucks. This, of course, would be a less economically/financially burdensome manner within which to transport municipal solid waste, but would also mean even more congestion on both the Bourne Bridge and the Sagamore Bridge. Nonetheless, this rear end shot of it clearing the West Barnstable Railroad Station within West Barnstable, Massachusetts was the best that I could get. For some reason, my camera was acting up just a little today.
