ST GP9 No. 52 (Maine Central) and ST GP9 No. 77 (B&M) lead Pan Am Southern train ED4 southbound alongside Route 5 at Northampton, Mass. The train will be stopping here to service a packaging plant. There was just enough weak sunlight remaining on this deep-freeze afternoon to highlight the train. The train was held just north of here for both the southbound and northbound Amtrak Vermonters.
