Pan Am Southern train 205 rolls westbound across the bridge spanning the Deerfield River in the town of Florida, Mass. Today's train is led by a factory-fresh ES44C4 No. 7957. In a couple of minutes the train will plunge into the darkness of the 4.75-miles-long Hoosac Tunnel beneath the Hoosac Mountain Range.
