MEC 345 in Concord NHWith the absence of coal trains, things have been on the quiet side on these New Hampshire rails, though the NA-1 and NA-2 locals are still taking care of business. Here is the MEC 345 tied down just before the Concord tower with about 15 cars.
MEC 345 was originally built as a GP40 in late 1968 as Penn Central 3224, then Conrail 3224, then sold to Guilford in late 1995. The 345 was painted Pan Am blue, first in April 2010, and again in April 2015. The 345 was out of service starting in July of 2013, then it was sent off to Paducah and rebuilt as a GP40-2 and now owned by GATX. and leased back to Pan Am. The 345 was returned to service about a year ago. This is my first time seeing the 345 since the grand rebuild.
