That church in the background is the East Concord Methodist Church, once pastored by George Fox.
Lt. George Fox was one of the Four Chaplains who gave up their life jackets, and their lives, that others might live, when the ship, the SS Dorchester, carrying them to Europe was torpedoed and sunk off the coast of Newfoundland in 1943. You can just make out the historical marker placed in front of the church in commeration.
MEC 402 was named for Gen. John Stark (of "Live free or die" fame).
Great job, MEC, naming those engines, and the Independence class, for the bienctenial.
The tracks of the Mountain Subdivision are still in place. I wonder if they will ever be in use again?
