Photo of Chuggin' Through Shushan, NY
Chuggin' Through Shushan, NY

A Batten Kill Railroad train is seen chuggin' south (west) through the village of Shushan, NY on Feb. 14, 2017. A BKRR snow flanger car is right behind the engine which cleared the line from Greenwich Junction to Eagle Bridge, NY. Five cars are trailing bound for the interchange with Pan Am at Eagle Bridge. What a joy it is to get away from today's high tech GEVO and Dash 9s to find a vintage locomotive like this one still in freight operation. It is an Alco RS3 and it was manufactured by Alco at Schenectady, NY in the early 1950s.
