Ayer, MA

Eastbound East Deerfield to Boston job passing through Ayer Interlocking. Six tank cars ahead of caboose are empty Hartwell Oil cars that were in Revere to Mt Tom service back when Mt Tom Power Plant burned oil. B&M crews loved PC cabooses especially the ex NYC bay window models. This is back in the day when PC had trouble keeping track of their cabooses.

Photographed by Bruce Nelson, May 11, 1972.
