Washboards westbound

A pair of Penn Centralized ex-NH "washboard" MUs roll west through Milford, CT, on a New Haven-Grand Central local run. Given the amount of business on Metro North today, it's remarkable that a two-car train was adequate for off-peal patronage back in 1970.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, July, 1970.

Railroad: Penn Central.
