In 1976 the New Haven had been gone for seven years, but the old NH station sign endured at Providence as this almost-new Amtrak F40 passed by on the point of a Washington-bound corridor train. I wouldn't have guessed that those year-old Amcoaches would still be abundant 41 years later, but Budd built them well.
