Early in the MBTA's F40 era it was not unusual to find a new F40 teamed up with an old E8 that was providing steam heat to the MBTA's ex-New Haven coaches. On its way to Providence, this F40/MBTA duo rolled through the Forest Hills section of Boston on an early spring day.
