CV Switching at New London

GT GP-9 #4442 switches a cut of cars with classic CV caboose on the west bank of the Thames. The US Coast Guard training ship Eagle was at its berth and forms the beautiful backdrop. The Central Vermont still had a sizeable presence in New London along with the Coast Guard Academy. The New Haven line to Worcester is on the opposite shore along with the Submarine Base.

Photographed by Ron DeFilippo, 1968.
Added to the photo archive by Ron DeFilippo, February 16, 2019.
Railroad: Central Vermont.
