Former New Haven GP--9, still in New Haven paint but with its new Penn Central number 7536 pauses with a way freight at the old Putnam, CT. tower This forlorn looking sentinel once guarded an important junction on the Boston to Hartford Airline that ceased to be after the Flood of 1955.

Great stuff...love these photos of the NH, early PC (never thought I would be saying I miss the PC) with the old towers, and semaphores. I live close to Putnam, and can remember hearing the freights at night running on the Midland to Putnam, now I ride my bike on the old right of way.
