"Open Continuously"

Groton Tower remained an important control point when other towers were being closed. It controlled the junction of the line to Worcester and the Shore Line as well as the moveable bridge over the Thames. The highway bridge in the background as well as the railroad bridge built in 1919 have since been replaced.
