A grab shot, made on the way further east, finds a train arriving at the yard in Bangor, Maine. For some reason, it's the scene I most readily associate with this site's name.

Even though it looms as large as a gargoyle at the entrance to a cathedral, I wish the industry we love could still support utility poles like this one. It makes what’s in the background even more beautiful

Wow - I had no idea how large MEC's Bangor Yard used to be not that long ago. Now the line here is a single track with entire yard replaced by the Bangor Waterfront Park.
