Old Ballardvale Station 56 feet of it

Under renovation to two family home.
Local as well as distance trains ran through the village starting on July 3, 1848. According to Boston & Maine railroad reports, a 'large and commodious station house' was built. In 1881, 56' of the original 135' of the station was turned 90 degrees and moved to 174 Andover St where it still exists. This portion of the station remained the property of B&M railroad until 1925. The other 78' was torn down around 1950. The present day commuter rail tracks are located at the back end this old station

MAGNIFICENT!!! In 1984 and ‘85 I lived in the apartment building seen in the extreme right of this picture. I was able to get my daily (and nightly) fix of trains there

seem to find this as my favorite spot as I live in North Wilmington and seem to want to lunch there due to MBTA, Pan Am and Downeaster (AMTRAK) fitting through a one mile section of single track at the station.

If you want any other images that spark your interest in the area I am available 7 days a week there.

I have hundreds or images during the double tracking from Wilm Jct to Lawrence. Most are posted under my name.on Nerail. Just search
