In New England, the Central Vermont held out the longest from converting to diesel. Here workaday Consolidation #464 simmers at Rouses Point, New York in a classic pose with a water tank and a coaling tower in the background.

This is Palmer, MA - roughly midway New London-Brattleboro. The CV had a turntable, coaling tower and water tank here and once a single stall engine house. It was a stop on the steam fan trips I took 1954 - 1956.
