Lucky seven - 1

In September 2010, seven EMD locomotives lead a modest length NMED (Northern Maine Jct to E Deerfield) consist departing Ayer approaching Walker Rd in Shirley MA. The motive power includes 4 SD40 rebuilds and 2 GP40s provided by Pan Am and an SD70M donated by NS Looks like most if not all engines are shouldering the load heading upgrade from the Nashua River valley.

😳 Yikes 😱. Most if not all engines shouldering the load of a train I can clearly see the end of?? I do realize that motive power needs to be always repositioned to East Deerfield because the heavy trains move East from there. But diesel fuel must have been dirt cheap in 2010, because the only stuff loaded on that thing are the boxcars from the paper mills, not the slurry cars nor the covered hoppers. Five of those engines should have been isolated. What a way to run a railroad 🛤
