Photo of The Old Jello Factory
The Old Jello Factory

General Foods/Kraft Foods Jello Factory. Closed down for a few years now, and soon to be replaced with condos and retail space. They stopped getting rail service sometime in the 80s. Not sure why, since it was such a large facility with so much moving in and out. They had two sidings, one on each side of the complex. One you can see right from the Stoneham Rail Trail. The other, the one that has its very own bridge under 93 (separate from the Stoneham Branch bridge) cannot be seen from the rail trail. But if you go around the block, the bridge is still visible from the right parking lot.

I had the pleasure once of following a truck heading to the plant on a hot summer day. OMG what a stench!

@Richard Andre I grew up right around the corner in Stoneham, so I know alllll about that smell. Although sometimes it was fruit flavor and smelled nice. Other times....... not good.
