Mechanicville- Wherever.

At the time a 1961 B&M symbol book, (condensed freight schedules) was our prime railfanning tool. It gave departure times. But eventually we learned there were too many variables in running trains over the Fitchburg Division, for it to be something to lean on. This Blue Bird powered eastbound had seven possible symbols; MB-2, 4, 6 or 8. It might have been MR-2 or 4. It might have even been MW-2. We never quite figured which.

But wherever it was going, it was intensely thrilling to watch

Appears this crew "got a knuckle" somewhere between Central Shaft and Greenfield judging by knuckle missing on the lead unit.

Looks like the location is East Deerfield Yard.
