Thanks, Jay. I knew of the line as the B&M's Lincoln Branch back when the main line continued from Plymouth up over the heights at Glencliff and down into Woodsville, then across the river and on to Montreal on the Canadian Pacific. The main line was abandoned some time in the early 1950s, I think. I did not know Eddie Clark had formed the Plymouth and Lincoln Railroad until I followed up on your answer.

Governor Thompson asked Don Hallock to reopen the line and provide service to the mill in Lincoln back in the late 1970s, which he did. But when the mill failed to reopen Don's investment was for naught and Gov. Thompson failed to cover his loss.

Glad to see the line back in service and doing well.

At one time Clark's Trading Post was said to be the only property in the country where you could find a Shay, a Climax, and a Heisler locomotive all on one line.

Thanks John ! The line is known today as the White Mountain Branch is 100% active from Concord to Lincoln. Last year the State of NH did a noticeable tie replacement project on almost the entire line. The Hobo Railroad runs from Lincoln south to Woodstock about 7 miles for their excursion trains, and the co-owned Winnipesaukee Scenic runs their regular trains from Meredith to Weirs Beach to Lakeport (Paugus) and back. In the fall they run fall foliage trains from Meredith north to Plymouth. New England Southern runs freight on the line from Concord to Lochmere (Tilton). Parts of the line, like here in Campton, don't see trains as often, as it is used mainly for equipment or special moves between Lincoln and Meredith. This was a treat to catch.
