Visitor Comments about this Photo:

I would assume this is now a UP car. FDDM was absorbed by the C&NW in 1969. The C&NW continued to use the FDDM reporting marks when FDDM equipment was repainted with Northwestern Employee Owned heralds. Thus the FDDM reporting marks would have gone to Union Pacific with the C&NW in the 1990's. UP has been using the old CMO (Chicago, St. Paul, Minneapolis & Omaha reporting marks widely on new coal grain covered hoppers and coal hoppers. I suspect a new financing or leasing arrangement must had caused UP to pull another of these old reporting marks out of their supply of old reporting marks and apply it to these cars to keep them easily recognizable.
To answer your oringal question, disappearing into C&NW in 1969 pretty much precludes any genuine FDDM center beam flasts; I am certain they are a later deveopment.
