MEC 509e, 503w, and 514w are found parked in the deep shadow of the little used remote parking structure abutting Portsmouth (NH) Yard. The DO-2 crew arrived here around 06:00 and left the train for the DO-1 crew later in the morning.

Why 3 locos?

Probably the middle unit is out of fuel or otherwise not working. They need 2 units with a train this heavy for running at 10 MPH for an hour.

Pan Am has been getting major pushback from area residents over fumes and noise from idling trains, Activity on this spur has increased a lot due to propane and lumber deliveries. And of course Pan Am is pushing back against the complainers. Looks like they might be trying to place engines next to parking garage rather than homes.
