P&L 1590 in West Thornton NH

This past Saturday, the MBRE ran a charter dubbed the "Lincoln Limited", which ran a round trip from the Winnipesaukee Scenic's Humble Home Base in Meredith to the Hobo Railroad's World Headquarters in Lincoln.

The enticement of the trip included some very rare mileage on the White Mountains Branch between the Common Man Inn, in Plymouth to just to the south of this location in West Thornton where the section of track is mainly used for equipment moves between the two co-owned railroad operations.

This stop in West Thornton allowed for several run-by photo opportunities for the passengers to partake in. The consist featured the H&WS's recently painted SW1001, #1590 on the point, along with a former Bangor & Aroostoock Pullman Car, which served Presidential Class Riders in all sorts of creature comforts, including AC. The three trailing former Budd coaches included:
#9151 RDC-1 (Former Reading & MBTA)
#6921 RDC-9 (Former B&M and MBTA)
#6105 RDC-1 (Former B&M and MBTA)

#1590 was built in 1973 for the Reading, transferred into Conrail, then to Norfolk Southern, sold to CIT Leasing Group where 1590 arrived on the railroad in the fall of 2015. 1590 was painted into the H&WS colors in the winter of 2021, after many years of wearing the light blue CIT paint, with some very overachieving hazard stripes on the cab end.

Many riders on this almost sold out train, enjoyed a very festive day on the northern section of "These NH Rails".
