This is an interesting photo. The length of the train makes it seem like this was not a S. Norwalk-Danbury shuttle, but one of the several "through" GCT-Danbury trains which ran each weekday. Yet I can't imagine E8's would have run directly into GCT for obvious reasons....

As an aside, I always thought those through trains were kind of like the last "pure" New Haven trains, even years after NH was gone, into the early 80's. They generally ran with classic back-to-back FL9s, with enough peeling paint to expose the old NH logo. And they also used the NH round-roofed stainless steel coaches. I rode the 4:36 (it sticks in my mind) several times in the back vestibule, and they really made time on the non-stop run from 125 Street to Stamford
