P&L 1012 by Winona

This was Saturday's Fall Foliage Special excursion heading south for home base Meredith. Besides riding some rare mileage from Meredith to Plymouth, guests are treated to a delicious buffet feast at the Common Man Inn in Plymouth. On the return trip south, there's a stopover and tour at the historic Ashland Station.

The once Winona Station was located just a bit south of here. (MP-C41.06) The train was crossing a very narrow bridge over Winona Road, wide enough for one car, with a low clearance.

The train lineup included two B&M/MBTA Budd RDC's, #6105 and #6921, and two privately owned Pullman Cars, one former New York Central, and one former Bangor and Aroostook. The power puller is P&L 1012, a 1970 built Burlington Northern SW1000, which has been the main power for Meredith trains since September 2014.
