If you like both upper and lower quadrant semaphore signals, Readville was the place to view them. Neither one of these signals governed the movement of the 3161. My notes say Engine PC 3161 GP-40 was lead unit on train "VP-2", which is back in the day when Selkirk to South Boston and Providence trains were combined. So when VP-2 got to Providence the crew took the Readville and South Boston blocks over the Shore Line to destination.
