Almost surreal that there could be that much traffic from Lowell to Providence only 52 years ago and zilch today.

Lowell Branch Service was approved for abandonment under the rail rationalizations that preceded the Conrail takeover. Traffic would be shifted to the B&M via Worcester.A reminder of the collapse of individual carload freight that took place largely because of trucking and the railroads poor service for small shippers.

From Lowell... am I to assume this train would have used F&L through Chelmsford, Acton, Concord, Sudbury to get to Framingham?
