South to Laconia

The Jewett Brook portion of the Winnipesaukee River connects Opechee Bay to Lake Winnisquam in Laconia. This past Sunday, the kayak crew enjoyed seeing this southbound Meredith to Laconia train passing over the longest trestle between Concord and Lincoln, not counting the Lakeport Drawbridge.

P&L 105 was built new for the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad in August 1971 as their 105. It was renumbered to 1001. The SW1000 arrived just after Labor Day in 2000, and was painted into the Plymouth & Lincoln livery in the winter of 2021. The two coaches shown were Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western M.U. Cars that ran in commuter rail service on the Morristown Line in New Jersey for various owners. They were built by Pullman around 1930 and ran in service until the mid 1980s. Their external appearance has been heavily modified since they arrived in Lincoln, the interior modified for table seating.

This section of the State owned White Mountain Branch does not see trains very often.
