MEC 505 at the Concord Yard Tower

Still standing !! While the Manchester Yard Tower was demolished, the Concord Yard Tower lives on. The structure was prepared to be demolished with the windows, roof shingles, and interior walls all removed. Only brick, cement, and the no shingle roof is left. A local grass roots effort has been underway to preserve the structure. At least there are no wrecking balls in the vicinity. CSX has done a great job keeping the area north of the yard tower clear of brush and weeds.

Here was the L066 Crew taking the 505 back to the crossover after spotting a load of utility poles. South facing engines have been more common over the past few years.. MEC 505, along with MEC 507, 515, 516, 518 and the occasional GE B40-8 have been the power seen on the Nashua Subdivision & Hillsboro Branch.. These engines are all equipped with the hardware & software to run on tracks in MBTA territory to Lawrence.

The "Blue Meatball" logo applied on the front of 505 is also found on MEC 504 & 506. The remaining blue painted former CN wide-nose-cab 500's never got one.
