A "More for Your Dollar" Holler in Concord

With CSX making "These NH Rails" great again, including huge track improvements on the Hillsboro Branch, seeing the big 4000hp GE B40-8's have become more commonplace in 2024.

Here was the L066 Crew taking 5 empties slightly ahead north to the runaround track. The new north switch installed on the Perini Siding in Bow eliminates the need to do multiple runarounds.. These days, seeing a double runaround in Concord is rare. One trip around, and the Crew is south out of town.

MEC 5966 is less than 40 years old, built in April 1988. The B40-8 was built as Conrail 5068, went to NS as 4804, then sold to CSX 5966, retired and sold to GE Capital as GECX 9068. MEC 5966 is once again owned by CSX after they acquired Pan Am Railways.

This Market Basket trailer doesn't move much, used as storage, a deterrent to prevent drivers from speeding behind the plaza, and an occasional photographic subject..
