Photo of Afternoon Mountaineer @ the Gateway
Afternoon Mountaineer @ the Gateway

The great part of looking for a train on a not so great of a day.. No one around!!! If the weather was nice, plenty of picture takers would be out, in addition to a full parking lot of hikers, taking in the trails. Sunday 9/27, it was a ghost town here. Crappy weather will do that.

Here was the Conway Scenic's afternoon 1:30 pm Mountaineer train heading toward Crawford Station just to the west of here. Looked like a pretty full house on board, with 2 dome cars, and 4 coaches. Matching former Maine Central GP38's did the pulling with CSRX 252w and 255e. Even with the clouds, rain, and such, the foliage colors are fantastic!

Come and get it !
