This Mountaineer Extra ran in between the 9:00 am & 1:30 pm scheduled trains from North Conway. As they ran west, they held the siding in Bartlett until the returning eastbound 9:00 am Mountaineer passed and was in the clear.

Conway Scenic #23, a.k.a "Millie", a Budd RDC1, was built in March 1952 for the New Haven. The two 275hp Detroit Diesels were humming away, as the car can still operate as a self-propelled unit, though it had Mr. Miller's engine (CSRX 573) as the power. Looks like this extra run to Crawford's accommodates their Group Business.

The two Detroit Diesels under the RDC make some great sounds ! It's been a very long time since since I have heard the engines of a Budd RDC actually run, in person.
