Pioneer Valley Polar Express

The city of Holyoke, Mass., in conjunction with the Pioneer Valley Railroad, ran a 'Pioneer Valley Polar Express to the Holyoke Heritage State Park on Thursday evening, December 3, 2009. The train conveyed Santa and Mrs. Claus to town where hundreds of children and parents waited to meet
them. The train is powered by the PVRR 2647 -
'The City of Holyoke'- and is hauling a stainless steel PVRR office car, the 302. The interior was
decorated with colorful Christmas trimings. The train shown here is passing some of the old abandoned mill buildings which once were the
lifeline and workplace for thousands of Holyoke
residents.
