A Remnant - Cheshire, MA

A lone whistle post marker bears testimony to a bygone era along the Ashuwillticook Rail Trail in the town of Cheshire, Mass., in the Berkshires of Western Mass. The trail was built on the former roadbed of the Pittsfield & North Adams RR. Much of the line was already abandoned when the track
was removed in the early 1990s. The B&M (Guilford) was the last operater of the line, though the middle portion -Cheshire, Lanesboro, - rarely saw a passing train during the B&M era.
