The story is, the station was built in anticipation of the rail line which was either never built or was very short lived - one or the other. (scan from a slide)

PS. from Dick Carroll;
"The Chesham NH RR station was on the Manchester & Keene RR then Boston & Lowell RR and finally the B&M RR. It was originally built to run from Greenfield NH to Keene but parts were never built. The line was abandoned in 1935"
