CSX At State Line Tunnel

CSX ES44AH No. 999 rushes out of the twin 'State Line Tunnels' in the town of Canaan, NY with a van train following a snowstorm on Sunday morning, December 15, 2013. The tunnel on the left was abandoned around 1987 when Conrail removed the second track on this section of the old Boston & Albany line. The present tunnel on the right was blasted through by the New York Central RR in 1911. The one on the left is the original dating to the opening of the railroad in 1842.
