BML#50, a GE 70-ton diesel electric locomotive purchased new by the Belfast & Moosehead Lake RR in November, 1946, pulling a Sunday afternoon excursion train bound for Waldo, ME, out of the turnout at the City Point Central Museum yard on to the B&ML's main line at MP 2.5 just outside Belfast, ME, on that road's 33-mile grade which was completed and opened in 1870. Sitting on the B&ML's main line on the left is MEC 9830, a retired steel box car built in 1951. The section of the B&ML's grade from Belfast to City Point, which is owned by the City of Belfast, is now formally abandoned, has been approved for railbanking, and is scheduled to be pulled up this fall to be converted to a running and bike path. The remainder of the grade from the City Point turnout to Burnham Junction, owned by the State of Maine, is being retained.
