Photo of Blackstone On The Midland
Blackstone On The Midland

A bit haunting in this view from the rear platform of a RRE excursion is the depot at Blackstone, MA with its big train order boards and its late 1800s architecture. We are looking in a more or less easterly direction with the P&W trackage in the distance to the right of the station and the Midland to the left. The station was still functioning at this time as the southern terminus of what is now the MBTA Franklin Line which now ends north of here. The Providence-Worcester line, then owned by the New Haven, crossed here. Our train is headed for Putnam, CT on trackage that was abandoned by PC four years later. The station is now gone and is parking for the rail trail

Great picture Ron! I think everything now is pretty much gone here. :(

Love the Midland shot Ron...it's now a parking lot, and the beginning of the Blackstone River Greenway, running north to 146A in Uxbridge.
I remember when PC pulled it up in 1970.
