Southern Ry No. 1401 at the Smithsonian

On my way south to witness the 44th Daytona 500 last February, I changed trains at Washington.

The 1401's location makes photography tricky. Note to self: bring a tripod, a wide angle lens (28mm here) a camera that likes lengthy exposures and go when it's quiet!

I managed to leave my tripod at Union Station, so all of these shots were hand braced against whatever was handy!
