RR Companies were taken over by the USRA druing the 1st World War. Accordingly many locomotives were so designated 'US' or 'USRA'. On the back of the print:
"Frank Grant & Walter Foss. MC Engine 623 build in 1919 by Am Loco Wks. Cyl 26x30 Steam 200 pounds per sq inch. Water 10000 gals, coal 16t, total weight 46200" /DL
